December A-News

Dear Alverno Alumna,

Looking for interesting, fun and worthwhile ways to stay connected with Alverno?

The Alumnae Office is proud to be offering a series of monthly events and gatherings designed exclusively for you. Alum Nights will be an assortment of unique experiences and offerings provided through a variety of college partnerships just for Alverno alumnae.

Our first Alum Night event will be on campus Wednesday evening, January 12, 2011. Since the recent opening of the Research Center for Women and Girls, alumnae have let us know of their support and interest in the Center’s work. This evening is designed for you to personally meet Director Kate Masley, learn about the center’s current work and hear about its future endeavors. Please come with questions, inquiries and a curious nature for an evening of wonderful conversations. Scroll down for more information on this and future Alverno Alum Nights!

Alumnae Spotlight
Carolyn Guerra '63Metamorphosis: Carolyn Guerra ’63
“An artist is not a special kind of person, but every person is a special kind of artist.” This remark made by  Alverno professor Sister Helena many years ago has stuck with alumna Carolyn Guerra ’63 ever since.

Carolyn is definitely a special kind of artist. She can be described as prolific, motivated, and award winning. She has created work in mixed-media sculpture, painting, portrait work, ceramics and jewelry. Carolyn's work has been featured in numerous shows in the Midwest, California and Arizona. Her work is on display in public spaces, Artworkcorporations and private homes. She has won many awards, too many to list--seriously. And not only has Carolyn won awards for her artwork, but also her teaching and her work in real estate. A thirst for learning and excellence has ensured that when Carolyn does something she takes it to the top. Click here to read more.
