My name is Sarah Ward. I am an Alverno Junior majoring in History for Secondary Education. When I'm not in class, I work in the Alumnae Office as the Alumnae in Training Program Coordinator. The Alumnae in Training program facilitates interaction between students and alumnae. Our goal is to enhance the student experience by providing opportunities that strengthen their lifelong affiliation and loyalty to Alverno. Miss Alverno is just one of many campus events we organize to connect students and alumni. Miss Alverno is a pageant-style event which provides students with the opportunity to apply their Alverno abilities in a setting outside of the classroom. Over the past four years the Miss Alverno competition has grown to be a vital part of the Alverno experience. Join us on Wednesday, April 18th from 7:30-10:00 p.m. in the Mug Coffeehouse, to be a part of this one of a kind event! To learn more about Miss Alverno click here.

Lavetta Meyer Torke '82
Receiving a degree in Business Management, Lavetta Meyer Torke '82 worked for Alverno as a Weekend College Coordinator working with various departments on designing the logistics of the Weekend College program. Lavetta herself was a weekend college student, and while attending Alverno she worked as an assistant to the Academic Dean, Sr. Austin Doherty. Lavetta is greatly appreciative of her work at Alverno, and considers the mentoring she got from Sr. Austin, as well as mentoring from Sr. Joel Read and Sr. Georgine Loacker, incredibly valuable.
Lavetta represented Alverno College at Northland College's inauguration in Ashland last fall. Lavetta found Northland's President Miller to be a fan of Alverno. She also enjoyed meeting other representatives of colleges and universities. Lavetta calls this monumental moment a celebration and touchstone for Northland College and was honored to be involved, claiming, "I am very proud to be an Alverno alum so representing and promoting Alverno is a 'natural' for me." Jensen Garners National Recognition On D3hoops.com Team Of The Week
Alverno College's Alyssa Jensen (Cudahy, Wis.) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, the national news source announced Tuesday morning. The honor is for games played during the week of February 13-19.
The Team of the Week presented by Scoutware is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll, in its 15th season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week. This is the final Team of the Week of the 2011-12 season. "Alyssa is very deserving of this recognition for the week that she had," Alverno head coach Brad Duckworth said. "She really played as well, as she has her entire career. Alyssa has worked so hard to get to this point, and to finish out her senior campaign with two wins along with this recognition is a great accomplishment." Click here to read more.
