The record has finally been broken. After back-to-back losses, Alverno College defeated host Mount Mary University, 6-0, to break the school-wins record as six different players scored in the shutout victory."It feels great to see the hard work that our staff and most importantly the players have put in, come back to us in wins," said Alverno Head Coach Brittany Nikolic, now in her fifth year at the helm of the soccer program. The Alverno Student Athlete Advisory Committee is starting up the annual Cans Across the Conference Food Drive Competition. As three-time defending champs we thank you all for your support and generosity and hope we can continue the success. Last year we collected 25,284 items…can we do it again?

So many ways to contribute:
 Drop off non-perishable food items or toiletries in athletics or in bins around campus
 Give cans to the Mandarin Orange Drive
 Buy a Thanksgiving Dinner in the Commons for a needy Milwaukee family
 Make a cash donation to Alverno Athletics with notation that it’s for Cans Across the Conference
(each dollar = 2 items)
Cans Across the Conference ends November 25.

ALVERNO FORUM: Healthy Aging in the Twenty-First Century
Thursday, November 14, 2013
6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Wehr Auditorium, Christopher Hall
Sponsored by the JoAnn McGrath School of Nursing

“Old” looks different today than in years past; aging in the 21st century sparks increasingly more questions and lifestyle choices to consider. In today's society, people across the life span are working in highly productive jobs, running marathons, communicating with their families and friends through social media and are active in the dating scene, thus challenging our traditional view of aging. Join us as we sift through the myths, confront the realities and discover the opportunities and resources that can promote a lifetime of living well in the 21st century. Is "age" the number of years of one’s life or the way one chooses to live?

Our guest panel of distinguished, active community volunteers represents a range of backgrounds in nursing, higher education, and public service and includes: Moderator Doris Chortek, Vivien DeBack '54 (moderator), Harry Fleddermann and Vi Hawkins.

The Alverno Forum series is free and open to the public. Please register at
