Dear {{$USER_FIRST$}},
For the past several years, the Alverno Alumnae Association has held an annual fundraiser to support the Alumnae Endowed Scholarship Fund. Today the need for scholarship money is greater than ever.
This year’s event, Take me out to Alverno, set for Wednesday, July 29 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the College’s alumnae courtyard and conference center, offers guests the opportunity to enjoy an evening with friends, faculty, student-athletes and the Klement’s Racing Sausages. In addition, we will be celebrating two Alverno alums -- S. Toni “Peanuts” Palermo ’66 and Jacqueline “Jackie Mattson” Baumgart ’76, who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Several breweries, including Buffalo Water, Capital, Lakefront and Stonefly, will be offering tastings of their artisan beers, and Great Lakes Distillery is offering tastings of Rehorst vodkas and gins. A limited cash bar will also be available for our alumnae and guests that may not be beer enthusiasts but wouldn’t miss the opportunity for fun and friendship in support of scholarship.
This year’s auction is filled with many fun and interesting items including Brewers tickets, a tandem sky diving session, a Blush make-up party, spa packages, and much more. The grand prize raffle is a “Choose-Your-Own Championship” event with opportunities to attend professional baseball, golf, tennis, hockey, auto racing, horse racing or college bowl games.

I invite you to join us for this wonderful evening as we celebrate America’s favorite summer pastime and support student scholarships. Please check out our website for more details and to register.
Best regards,
Samantha

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has named Judy (Wozny) Murphy ’75, vice president for information services at Aurora Health Care, to serve on the newly-created Health Information Technology (HIT) Standards Committee, which is a 23-member federal advisory body to the Office of the National Coordinator for HIT, established by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The appointment came from Kathleen Sebelius, the new Secretary of Health and Human Services. Murphy will serve a three year term, May 1, 2009 to May 1, 2012. The HIT Standards Committee is charged with making recommendations to the National Coordinator on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.
"I am honored to serve on this important committee, and proud that my health information technology expertise, developed over the last 20 years, has been recognized in this way,” Murphy said. “It is a credit to Aurora Health Care and to Wisconsin to be represented at the national level for input on using HIT to promote health care reform."
Murphy is also active with her alma mater. In 2008, she joined the Alverno Alumnae Association Board.

Celebrates 50 Years of Performing Arts
In 1959, at an age when most people think about retiring, Alverno's Sister Laura Lampe set out on an entirely new project – creating what was then the Society of Fine Arts and what is now known as Alverno Presents. Thanks to Sister Laura, Alverno Presents has turned the stage of the Pitman Theatre into a cultural crossroads and brought world class artists to Southeastern Wisconsin over the past 50 years. Our 09/10 Season video offers a taste of the outstanding artists who are joining the party. Click here to view this season's lineup.
