Alverno College Department of Art

The Alverno Alumnae Relations Department and the Department of Art sponsor an alumnae visual art exhibit held each year in conjunction with Homecoming. This exhibit is by alums for alums and all alums are welcome to participate!

Recent exhibitions featured a vital community education event related to the year-long, college-wide investigation of art, faith and social justice. Alumnae were encouraged to enter artworks that represented broad interpretations of environmental themes, cultural heritage or tradition, faith or spiritual experience or wide-ranging issues of social justice. Alumnae representations of earth, culture, spirit and justice participated in a discourse on the role of the artistic process as an experience which develops awareness and community participation.

The Art & Cultures Gallery invite all alumnae working in visual media to submit an entry of two original two-dimensional artworks. There is no entry fee for the exhibition. Several Jurors' Merit Awards are presented at the opening reception. This reception also features an artist's talk by several alumnae, an awards ceremony and opportunity to speak with the jurors.
