Student Testimonials
May 2007
Fran Felton, MT-BC grad 1995 is working in Platteville, WI.
“The education I received at Alverno gave me the confidence and perseverance necessary to pursue and succeed as a private practitioner in a rural community, where support and resources are limited.”
Erica Hansen, MT-BC grad 2005 currently a board certified music therapist in San Diego, California
"As a music therapist with the San Diego schools, I am required to be flexible and think on my feet. Alverno provided a solid educational background in music therapy theory and the opportunity to practice my clinical skills which allows me to be confident regardless of the situation I find myself in.”
Shana Rebilas Bousard, MT-BC equivalency 2004 currently works in Phoenix, AZ as a contract MT with autistic children, elders in Day care and emotionally disturbed children.
“On a weekly basis, I incorporate songs that my fellow Alverno classmates and I have composed, and I, almost constantly, refer to specific clinical music therapy projects I completed. I was fortunate to receive the best and most comprehensive music therapy education in the country during my years at Alverno. “Bravo” to the music faculty!
Mary Dahl, BA in Music, Dec. 07 grad, Music/Religious Studies major (church music), Waukesha, WI
"The interactive classrooms in the Music and Religious Studies Departments, the regular one-on-one’s with instructors and advisors, the broad scope of, and the openness to, numerous opportunities and ideas for internship possibilities, along with the small class sizes both challenged and supported my learning here at Alverno. My internship project, planning and coordinating the 2007 Archdiocesan Children’s Choir Festival processed and approved through the Internship Office, brought me into contact with directors from all over southeastern Wisconsin, as well as working with and “taking care of” the professional clinician Lee Gwozdz from Corpus Christi, Texas. My classroom education plus my successful internship dovetailed with my current full-time position as a Director of Liturgy and Music, as well as my plans to go on to graduate study in Church Liturgy and Music."
