What I do: I am an IT Recruiter. I work for C&C Recruiting and Consulting. We are located in Waukesha. We as a company specialize in Permanent IT placement with clients throughout the greater Milwaukee/Waukesha Area. I also help other Recruiters find new opportunities for themselves.
How I got my job: I got my current position through networking. I met a recruiter that was very impressed by my skills, education, and experience, and passed on my information to the owner of C&C Recruiting and Consulting. I am a firm believer that the experience that I got with my two internships (Harley Davidson and Dawes Transport) and staying in touch with former managers, and coworkers, along with networking helped to me through my career path and helped me get my current position.
How I use my Alverno education: I use my Alverno education everyday. I use it when I am speaking in front of a group of 200+ high school students and their parents about career/collage topics, or I am putting together marketing material for my company. Alverno helped me to face the work world with more confidence.
How I define career success: I define success by being happy and content with the way my life/career is at this moment in timeand by having a balanced life with work and family/friends. I also define success by making a positive impact on someone’s life. If I can match someone to that “perfect” job for them, then I am successful for that moment in time until the next successful placement.
Tips from the field: Always stay well connected. The best jobs that are available are not posted on job boards. Networking is a HUGE part of success. Join professional groups. NEVER burn a bridge. Whatever you do, do it with professionalism and with tact; you may need help down the road.
