What
components make up a browser?
The graphics below indicate the location of some of these components.

Like any software application, browsers have different versions.
Versions are given in numbers. The higher the number the more
recent the version. For instance, Internet Explorer 5.0 is a more recent
version than Internet Explorer 4.0. Internet Explorer 5.2 is more recent
than either of these two. Browser versions are important, since earlier
browsers (Netscape prior to 4.0 and Internet Explorer prior to 4.0)
did not have all the functionality of the more recent browsers
What does this mean for you? If you are having problems viewing
a web page or part of a web page, it might be because your browser is
older and does not support newer web application. To check your browser's
version:
- Pull down the Help Menu
- Select About Internet Explorer
