How do I format my message to make it easier to read?

To assist your reader in understanding your message without voice and nonverbal cues, it is important to format your message properly. The use of white space (blank lines) is very important.

The message below was cut out of an email in which the sender was replying to a series of questions.

What do you do about that sense of overwhelm?
How do you change your time management? That depends. If I can I try to schedule more time for certain classes that I am having difficulty in, or try to make an appointment to see the instructor.

Do you speed up your studying or do you think about dropping a class? Not unless I determine that I should drop the class because my attempts to catch up will be futile.

Do you try to get outside tutoring? This is probably
my most typical response to the problem

As you can see, it is hard to see where the response to the questions begins and ends. The message below is the same message, but white space and formatting have been used to help the readers understand the communication better.
