David Brooker, Assistant Professor of Political Science, teaches courses in international politics and global studies and is the coordinator of the Global Studies program. He teaches courses on the United Nations, American Foreign Policy and comparative politics. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Miami University. His specialty is Russia and the former Soviet Union. |

Jim Henderson, Assistant Professor of Business and Management, earned both his Masters of Business Administration (HR, OB/OD, Labor Relations) and his Bachelors of Arts Honors (History) degrees from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He currently teaches various HR, management, business, and globalization courses, with a particular emphasis on 'Women and Leadership'. As a dual US/Canadian citizen, Jim has traveled extensively internationally in his business career, including living/working in South Korea, and being a member of both the Alverno Asian Studies Initiative and the Alverno Latin American Studies Initiative. |

Associate Professor Carol Vollmer Pope, M.B.A., serves as program coordinator for the International Business Major at Alverno College. She also serves as Director of the Alverno Latin American Studies Initiative. She teaches a short-term study abroad course titled CLD/GLS/INS/MGT Management, Culture and Society in Latin America every spring. Students study the culture, communication, history, religion, economics and politics of Paraguay and Brazil Argentina and Bolivia and then travel for two weeks to South America to experience what they have learned. She also teaches Global Marketing, Business Practicum, Marketing Principles and Business Policy & Strategy. |

Russell
G. Brooker, an Associate Professor in the Social Science Department.
He teaches both Social Science and Business courses. He is
also the Coordinator of the Political Science Program. His
fields of expertise are American politics, especially public
opinion and political participation, and marketing research.
He is the Coordinator of the Effective Citizenship ability
department and teaches a course on human rights in the United
States and China. |

Kevin
Casey, an Associate Professor of History, Chair of the Arts
and Humanities Division and Coordinator of the History Department.
Dr. Casey specializes in U.S. history with a research emphasis
in foreign economic policy and the Cold War. He is the author
of Saving International Capitalism During the Early Truman
Presidency: The National Advisory Council on International
Monetary and Financial Problems , Routledge, 2001. Dr. Casey
also has areas of expertise in Latin American history and
modern European history. |

Debra
Chomicka is Director of the Career Education Center and an
Instructor in the Division of Business and Management. She
received a certificate in Russian and East European Studies
and a M.A. in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She also studied at the Catholic University of Lublin in Poland
and speaks fluent Polish. In addition to directing Alverno's
career education programs, she coordinates Alverno Corporate
Education, delivering training to a variety of businesses
and non-profit organizations. Her commitment to preparing
Alverno students to fully participate in the new global marketplace
is reflected in her involvement in leading international and
inter-cultural initiatives across the college. |

Zohreh
Emami. She teaches economics and management and is Associate
Dean for Academic Affairs. She is a specialist in labor economics,
history of economic thought, and development economics. She
teaches courses in Women and the Economy, Women and Leadership,
International and Development Economics, and Economic Environment.
She is recently published an oral history of contemporary
women economists in the United States. |

Associate
Professor Dara Larson teaches in the Art Department as well
as in Global Studies. She is a specialist in Spanish and Latin
American Art and co-teaches Art and Religion of the Americas
with Associate Professor Dan Leister of the Religious Studies
Department. Professor Larson attended the University of Salamanca
Spain and continues to complete studio art research in Ecuador,
Costa Rica, Spain, and Mexico. Much of this research reflects
upon study of indigenous crafts, women's art cooperatives
and contemporary art. Her artworks completed abroad have been
exhibited nationally. She has presented papers regarding international
service and short-term international study programs at numerous
international conferences. |

Dimitri D. Lazo. He is Professor of History and Director of
the Alverno International and Intercultural Center. He is
a specialist in the history of American foreign policy, with
a special focus on the late 19th and early 20th century. In
addition, Dimitri Lazo has areas of expertise in the history
of China and Japan. He was a Fulbright Lecturer at Dhaka University,
Bangladesh, where he taught the history of 20th century American
foreign policy. |

Daniel L. Leister, Associate Professor and Coordinator in
the Department of Religious Studies. His main areas of academic
expertise are political theology and philosophy of religion.
He teaches Eastern and Western religious thought, and general
humanities. In addition, he co-teaches with Dara Larson two
travel courses on art and religion of Mexico and art and religion
of Germany. He has lived and studied in Canada and Germany.
Dr. Leister received his doctorate from McMaster University
in Canada. |

Jennifer
Northern, Assistant Professor of Spanish. She is the department
coordinator of the Spanish Department and the Alternative
Language Studies Options (ALSO) Department. She holds an M.A.
in Spanish linguistics and has studied and lived in Spain
and France. She specializes in Romance linguistics and speaks
three languages. In addition, Professor Northern is interested
in translation and instruction in Spanish for the Professions
and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Academic Leadership. |

Greta Salem is Professor Emerita at Alverno College. She led
the development of the Global Studies program at the college.
A political scientist by training, she also has expertise in
world politics and peace and conflict studies. She recently
co-authored a book on the experience of children in the 1994
Rwandan genocide entitled Witness to Genocide: The
Children of Rwanda. |

Amy
Shapiro is Professor of Philosophy at Alverno and Director
of the Holocaust Education and Resource Center for the Milwaukee
Coalition for Jewish Learning. Her areas of specialization
are philosophical issues and the Holocaust, language philosophy,
and feminist theory. As a member of the Pastora Goldner Symposium
on the Holocaust since its inception in 1996, she has participated
in on-going dialogue with members of the Holocaust Studies
international community. She has written on teaching the Holocaust
and the role of affect in Holocaust learning. Her course on
Places of the Holocaust is a unique experience of study and
travel to Eastern Europe. |
