Adaptive Education

Total semester hours: 30

With the emphasis in schools on inclusion classrooms, this specialization leading to the Adaptive Education (859) license in Wisconsin helps regular education teachers develop strategies for working with a broader range of students, as well as working collaboratively with special educators and resource teachers.

Qualified candidates must be licensed teachers working in a PK-12 setting where they will be able to complete a practicum. Degree candidates complete the core requirements for the Master of Arts as well as the following courses:

  • Frameworks for Assessment Practice (3 cr)
  • Introduction to the Exceptional Learner (undergraduate prerequisite) (3 cr)
  • Creating and Sustaining Inclusive School Communities (3 cr)
  • Adapting Strategies for Inclusive Settings (3 cr)
  • Elective Courses (6 cr)
