Office 2007 is Here!!!
All our computers have been upgraded to Office 2007. There are significant differences between Office 2007 and Office 2003. To help students transition to the new version of Office, Tech Services has created this page in addition to a handout that was used at training sessions. If you were unable to attend training, a copy of the handout is available by clicking here.

The Ribbon

The biggest change in Office 2007 is the Ribbon. The Ribbon is comprised of a group of tabs with each tab containing a set of commands. To minimize and restore the ribbon type Ctrl and F1.
For more information about the ribbon, go to http://office.microsoft.com/training/Training.aspx?AssetID=RP101482271033&CTT=6&Origin=RC101482291033
The left sidebar contains links to other features including an Overview. We recommend watching the first four options:
- What's on the Ribbon
- How commands are organized
- More commands, but only when you need them
- More options if you need them

Microsoft Office Compatability
Files created in Office 2007 will not open in Office 2003 unless the file is saved in Office 97-2003 format or the Compatibility Pack has been installed. If you are using an earlier version of Microsoft Office at home or elsewhere, we recommend either saving the document you create on campus as an Office 97-2003 version or download the Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It can be downloaded for free at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=941B3470-3AE9-4AEE-8F43-C6BB74CD1466&displaylang=en
